My review:
Can you really go wrong with a good Percy Jackson book? Yes, I do remember that I only gave the last one 4 stars, but it dropped a star for some really small things (you can read it here if you want!), but other than those teeny tiny things, I really enjoyed it. And I liked this one even more. The problems with the first ones just didn't happen with Sea of Monsters, making it well worthy of 5 stars!
Percy Jackson is honestly one of the funniest guys in literature. Ok, that might be a slight exaggeration, but he's definitely one funny dude. It probably helps that his sense of humour and mine are pretty much the same thing. Only my sense of humour has a slight 'head in the gutter' tinge to it. But he's only, like, 13 so he's still got time left to get that pretty head of his in the gutter!
And while we're on the subject of Percy's prettiness, how gorgeous is the cast of the Percy Jackson films! Logan Lerman (Percy), Alexandra Daddario (Annabeth) are the two of the hottest people alive. THEIR. EYES. THOUGH. And if you haven't seen the film, don't worry, they certainly don't look 13. Brandon T. Jackson (Grover) and Jake Abel (Luke) aren't that bad either! If they could all star in the next magic Mike, that'd be great. Magic Percy. Awesome.
Back to the book! Sea of Monsters was much more set out than Lightning Thief, which was great. Much fewer distractions that had nothing to do with the story, much bigger presence of a clear bad guy, much less putting a mythical creature in it for the sake of it and much more story. Every problem with the first one resolved itself and if it continues like this, I'm so excited for book #3.
If you're putting off reading this series, like I have been, don't do it any longer. I'm super excited to see what Percy gets up to in the next book!
